I read this story today and it left me shaking my head. But then, many things do these days. Please read this if you get a chance. I really like the website that it is on. The writers there have some serious common sense working for them.
But in case you don’t have the time, in a nutshell the story details a young man who was killed by a homeowner when said homeowner came home to find this guy going through his house looking for things to steal. Seems he had some drug issues and was possibly supporting his pharmaceutical hobby by thievery. That’s not the part of the story that had me reaching for the duct tape to wrap around my head to keep it from exploding. It was the sister’s opinion about her brother. And before you criticize, yes I totally understand that she is grieving the loss of her brother, and wants to think the best of him. But she said this, “he was a good hard working kid that never would hurt anybody and was unarmed, and viciously mowed down.”
She doesn’t believe the homeowners story. And she went on to say that her brother wouldn’t have stayed there and engaged in an altercation. He would have run away. HELLO !!!! He wouldn’t have had to run away, if he hadn’t been on someone else’s property – stealing things. Are you saying that he wouldn’t have gotten in a fight about being somewhere he clearly was not supposed to be? Are you saying that we should feel extra bad for him because he didn’t try to harm the homeowner AS WELL AS steal from him? We should applaud him for just breaking into someone’s home to rob them and not fighting (and possibly killing) the homeowner? This makes him less of a criminal? Really?
As I said, I understand her grief. But who is the real criminal in this story? The guy protecting his home and belongings from a thief? Or the dead dirtbag that was shot in the commission of a crime? This world has been so skewed on it’s axis that now people are asking for us to feel worse for criminals than law-abiding citizens. What happened to the world where we would be ashamed, and felt guilty if anyone we knew did something bad? Where parents said things like this to their kids….like mine did. ” I love you, but if you break the law, there won’t be any bail money. I may come and visit you in prison, but you will have shamed the family name so don’t look for any pity”.
And then there’s THIS dirtbag ! He’s fathered 22 children with 14 different women. And they are going to give this nutsack a reality show. What the hell could it be about? How to make children? Or maybe they can make a series about teaching him to keep his junk in his pants for a change. And do you think that he feels bad about the fact that the state of Tennessee has to put out $7000 a month to feed these kids? Oh hell no ! Does he think that maybe some kind of birth control might be in order? Uh…nope. And his excuse for all this? He just “loves women”. Seriously, I don’t know who I’m more pissed at. Him for being a damn deadbeat father, or the stupid women that let this jerk knock them up. They have these really cool little pills. You take one everyday, and you don’t have babies. Or, there’s this thing you use to cover your dick and the sperm doesn’t make the connection with the egg. This is not rocket science people. Anyway. I marvel at the public’s interest in a show like this. I know at least ONE person that wouldn’t watch that trash if it were the only thing on and that’s ME.
Rant over !
